Where do I leave my blue bin to be collected?
On your day of collection, place your blue bin at the edge of your property with the handles facing the road. This should be no later than 7.00 am. Please do not leave bins on the footpath or grass verge as this may cause an obstruction to pedestrians.
What can I put in my blue recycling bin?
All recyclable material should be placed loose in your blue bin. Please do not bag this material as our crews will not be able to see the contents.
What happens if I place unacceptable material in the blue bin?
If you blue bin contains material not listed as "Yes Please" it will not be emptied. Unacceptable material causes problems at the recycling plant and the whole load may be rejected and sent to landfill if there is too much contaminated material within it. The cost of disposal must then be borne by the tax payer. Obviously we are keen to avoid this and our crews perform a visual check prior to emptying every blue bin and will leave a notification on bins that contain unacceptable material explaining why it could not be collected. If this material is removed the bin will be emptied on your next scheduled collection date. Our crews cannot remove unacceptable items from the blue bin during collection.

Yes, an assisted collection service can be provided free of charge if required. Please contact Customer Services on 01902 696000 to arrange this service.
My blue bin has not been emptied
Before contacting Customer Services on 01902 696000, please check your Waste and Recycling Calendar online to make sure that you have put out your blue bin on the correct day. Please note that crews sometimes need to leave your area to tip during the day or they may empty neighbouring properties at different times depending on their route. Please be aware that we will not return to empty your bin in the following circumstances:
You are reporting a missed bin more than one working day after collection;
You have placed the wrong bin out for collection;
Crews have already visited your property and your bin was not presented (bins must be out from 07:00 when first collections start);
You have presented a non Council issued bin;
We will not collected any recycling from the side of the blue bin or blue bag. i
Your bin is too heavy and either cannot be moved by the crews or cannot fix safely onto the lifting equipment on the vehicle.
What happens on Bank Holidays - are collections still made?
With the exception of the Christmas and New Year period, collections will be made on Bank Holidays throughout the year. Please consult your Waste and Recycling Calendar for collection details over the Christmas and New Year period.
I have just moved to a new property / my existing blue bin has been damaged or stolen

I live in a flat and share a large bin with my neighbours
All communal properties have large blue bins which can be used to recycle the items listed above.
What if I cannot fit all of my recycling in the blue bin?
If you regularly have additional recycling please contact Customer Services on 01902696000.
Where will material collected in my blue bin be sent for recycling?
All material collected in the blue bin goes to a Material Recycling Facility (MRF) in Aldridge, West Midlands. At this plant, material is separated and then sent on to reprocessors where it is used to make a variety of recycled products.
