Help if you are struggling to pay your Council Tax

In this emergency situation, it is important that you pay your Council Tax as this income to the Council provides many important services for residents such as Fire and Rescue, Police, Schools, Libraries, Waste Collections, Street Cleaning and Welfare Support including Homelessness services, to name a few. Council Tax also provides funds towards care services for vulnerable adults and children. It is therefore really important that residents are supported to pay their Council Tax if they can, to ensure the Council has enough income to cover these essential services.

Council Tax Support

We recognise these are still very difficult times and if you are still experiencing financial difficulty then we are encouraging you to apply for Council Tax Support, if you have not already done so. If you have any doubt as to whether you may qualify, please contact customer services on (01902) 696668 or email where a member of staff can advise you and explain the application process.

You might also be able to get a discount or exemption which means you pay less council tax.

We would recommend that you pay by Direct Debit, that way your payments are requested automatically by your bank, so there's no risk of missing a payment. If you would like to set up a Direct Debit instruction please provide your information here.

If you are unable to pay your Council Tax as billed, we also offer My Account where you can set up Special Payment Arrangements online yourself which is available 24 hours a day. On occasion your Arrangement may need approval from one of our Officers. In this situation we would require details of your Incomings and Outgoings in order to get a better understanding of your circumstances. The Income & Expenditure form can be downloaded via this link.
