South Staffordshire Council marked its 50th anniversary with a special celebratory event on Tuesday, 1st October 2024, bringing together 100 invited guests, including the Lord Lieutenant, Chairman of the Council, Leader of the Council, award winners, sponsors, Council Officers, and other distinguished attendees.

Council Leaders across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have written to the Government to begin a conversation about devolution and how it could benefit the area.

At the full council meeting on Tuesday, 24th September, Cllr Kath Perry MBE was elected as the new Leader of South Staffordshire Council. Cllr Perry MBE, who represents Great Wyrley, takes over leadership from Cllr Roger Lees who has decided to step down and retire as Leader whilst continuing his role as a Ward Member for Himley and Swindon. 

Work to upgrade the boardwalk around Perton’s Upper Lake will commence from Monday 9th September. Whilst the work is completed, the adjacent areas will be closed to the public.

A brand-new video has been released to showcase the work being undertaken to support communities across South Staffordshire.

South Staffordshire Council is currently holding a consultation into the serving of a Public Spaces Protection Order to deter and prevent car cruising on sections of the A449, A460 and New Road Featherstone within the parishes of Brewood and Coven and Featherstone and Shareshill.
