NOW OPEN: All new outdoor synthetic pitch

The 3G pitch is now open and available for individual/block bookings.

Block bookings for next season will not be taken until 15 July 2022. We are currently unable to provide any indication of availability for next season as our partner teams have until 14 July to submit their requirements, after which point the bookings will be open for other users/clubs.

To submit an enquiry

Email us at wombourne@sstaffs.gov.uk providing the following essential details:

  • Full name and contact details
  • Club name
  • Preferred day and specify 'time from' and 'time to' (Bookings are taken on the half hour for a minimum duration of 1 hour)
  • Specify hire period (Date 'from' and date 'to')
  • Pitch size (quarter, half or full)

wombourne 3G

Young people, sports clubs and the wider community in Wombourne are set to benefit from a new all-weather 3G sports pitch thanks to funding from South Staffordshire council and the Football Foundation.

The facility is located at the back of Wombourne Leisure Centre and includes newly refurbished changing areas within the leisure centre that serve the new pitch.

The pitch has been made possible thanks to a £800,000 investment by South Staffordshire Council and the Premier League, The FA and the Government through the Football Foundation.

The new 3G pitch is floodlit with shockpad flooring and FIFA accredited making it good quality pitch for training and match standards.

Councillor Len Bates, Cabinet Member for Community Services at South Staffordshire Council said: “The pitch will make an excellent addition to the existing facilities already available at the Leisure Centre. It will offer local residents, pupils, groups and teams a wonderful venue whilst promoting active lifestyles. It's been a real community effort and an excellent example of public and private organisations coming together for the good of people in South Staffordshire. We're all looking forward to its completion."

Head Teacher Dr Emma Smith said: “The 3G pitch will provide students with a valuable resource for PE lessons and an amazing space to host football matches with neighbouring schools. Students can't wait to use the pitch."

Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “It is great to see the start of work at the new sports pitch. “This is the latest example of investment from our partners, the Premier League, The FA, Government and Sport England, improving grassroots facilities across the country. This funding is enabling more people to enjoy the benefits of playing regular sport."
